About Amrit Richmond

My work is all about CPG, but my interest in brands and the future of food & beverages started as a kid.

I equally loved watching cartoons as much as The Price is Right, Unwrapped, and Supermarket Sweep. Since then, I’ve been fascinated by how products are made and sold, and how to make consumers fall in love with a new brand.

My career spans 17 years across advertising, media, tech, and VC on the post-investment side of the table. Since 2017, I’ve partnered with clients to help them understand what’s new and next in CPG and supermercato aisles of interest.

The Indie CPG community is inspired by my work with founders and VCs. Our goal is to provide sustainable brands with similar resources and a values-aligned ecosystem they might receive post-investment from a fund. All of the time and resources we’ve put into Indie CPG have been 100% free to founders including Cart Camp, Nearby to National, Summer School, and our content that has helped brands connect with retailers, investors, and strategic partners.

Either in-house or as a consultant, I’ve worked with eight VC funds on research, communications, ecosystem partnerships, and/or portfolio support programs, including strategic intros and helping 100s of founders with marketing, branding, partnerships, growth, fundraising, and discounts to extend runway.

Prior to Supermercato, I was a brand strategist with advertising agencies and media companies, where I collaborated on global marketing campaigns, and researched the future of retail, eCommerce, consumer tech (like social media and shopping apps), beauty, healthcare, and wellness. My first job was at a magazine where I worked across the art and digital departments telling the stories of people and businesses making a positive impact on the world.

When I’m not working with clients, I spend time with friends of Indie CPG (100s of 1:1 calls and chats with founders and their teams since 2019), I advise four companies (one snack and three Shopify apps), I volunteer with two non-profits that support diverse talent and help place women on boards of brands and consumer tech companies, tend to my garden, and dream about seeing my family again in Italy. 🏝
